you are my sunshine
I totally hadn’t heard this album when I made the “best of 2008” list. Actually, I never really liked Copeland until a couple months ago. It’s not really surprising, though. I guess I’m that way with a lot of music they sell in Christian bookstores (I only started liking Brand New, mewithoutYou, Mae and Norma Jean in the past couple years, too).
Anyway, this is totally not what I would expect. In short, “You Are My Sunshine” make me think of what would happen if Annie, Imogen Heap, Sigur Ros and Queen all started an adult-contemporary dance band that played electro clubs.
I’m in love with the production (I can’t stop listening to it with headphones) and haven’t appreciated orchestral arrangements on pop records this much since Anathallo’s “Floating World.”
Even if you don’t like Copeland, I’d still recommend it…because it doesn’t sound like their previous albums. Also, please buy it from Amazon.
